LOW FLY INCLINE NEW VIDEO ‘SILVER CADILLAC’

LOW FLY INCLINE have unloaded a deliciously dark and grungey new video for ‘Sliver Cadillac‘ – the second single taken form the band’s debut long-play, Other Desert City. The live video was shot at Screamlouder studios in Melbourne, watch it HERE

Silver Cadillac‘ is out now as a special 4-track package, featuring b-side cover versions of songs by Tom Petty and Black Flag, plus a re-worked version of previous single ‘Vinnie The Rune’.

Despite it’s name, it is not a song about a car. It’s a track of Australian/German/American musical decent. It was the first song written by Tarek (guitar/vocals) specifically for Low Fly Incline and was the first song recorded on the first day of recording the first Low Fly Incline album, with the dude from Kyuss behind the buttons as Producer.

The debut album Other Desert City (out now on Rubber Records), recorded in the depths of the Californian desert, spawned ‘Vinnie The Rune’ and now second single ‘Silver Cadillac’ has been unleashed.  The full album is out now through Freakshow Disco Productions/Rubber Records, available digitally from iTunes or physically direct from Rubber.

Low Fly Incline launch ‘Silver Cadillac’ in tonight Melbourne at Luwow (November 27), with support from My Piramja, From Oslo plus DJs Andrew Padula & The Guildo Spatular.

OBLIVIANS ANNOUNCE THEIR FIRST EVER AUSTRALIAN TOUR – MARCH 2015

This is it. Finally. For the first time in their 21 year existence The Oblivians are making their maiden voyage down under. The godfathers of modern garage-punk. The heirs to the throne. The nastiest, filthiest most obscene rock’n’roll pioneers of the modern era are coming for a whirlwind tour of every East-coast gritty pub they could find. Most never thought they’d get the chance to witness The Oblivians live, but now the time has come to watch them tear across Australia.
But first some history…
…The Oblivians came together in Memphis in 1993 when Greg Cartwright and Jack Yarber from the Compulsive Gamblers met Eric Friedl from Hawaii. They abruptly blew apart, letting loose with some of the rawest garage punk heard. Their brand of unhinged rock’n’roll was loaded with the feel of the blues but seethed with the fun and desperation of the best punk, helping to kick-start an explosion of raw garage rock’n’roll bands around the world.
After their break up in 1998, their legacy has only grown, with artists like Jay Reatard, Black Lips and Ty Segall taking cues from the Memphis heroes and reaching out to audiences worldwide. Meanwhile, Greg Cartwright continued with Reigning Sound, reaching deeper into traditional musical strains and refining a more soulful approach in his songs for several fantastic records – the most recent of which came out this year on Merge Records.
Finally it’s our chance to play host, with a string of sweaty small rock’n’roll club shows along the East Coast, including a slot at the Golden Plains Festival. Aunty Meredith herself declared them as “the holy grail of modern day garage punk”.
The Oblivians will play headline dates at Newtown Social Club in Sydney on March 4, Brisbane Hotel in Hobart on March 5, Barwon Club in Geelong on March 9, Wooly Mammoth in Brisbane on March 14, and a special three-night residency at Melbourne’s iconic The Tote on March 11, 12 and 13 (special three-show passes available) - all tickets on sale now, supports soon to be announced.

A season pass for all three shows at The Tote is available for $90, which includes a bonus one-off exclusive Oblivians design screenprinted on punter’s choice of poster or t-shirt (the option, including shirt sizes, can be selected at checkout). The shirts and posters will be printed by Too Far Gone Screenprinting on the Thursday, and available for collection at the Friday gig.

BLACK CAB FOURTH ALBUM ‘Games Of The XXI Olympiad’ OUT NOW

BLACK CAB quietly launched their fourth studio album last week, a double-length entitled ’Games Of The XXI Olympiad’. It’s taken four years, three producers, four studios and fourteen tracks, and it has been received with open arms; including 4 stars from The Age and 4 stars from The Music.

Melbournians have the chance to see the band translate the album live when they launch it at Howler  on November 29 with support from Lowtide and Queens Head.

The album is their first in 5 years, and takes the group further into electronic territories, building on the sound of earlier singles Combat Boots and Sexy Polizei thanks to long-time Cab producer Woody Annison, with additional production by Simon Polinski and ex-Death In Vegas member Tim Holmes.

Games Of the XXI Olympiad is Black Cab’s fourth LP in 10 years, a four year odyssey that has finally made it into the stadium and is going for gold. It’s out now on Interstate 40 Music / Remote Control. Black Cab play at Howler in Melbourne on Saturday 29 November, tickets available HERE

THE JENSENS PREMIERE NEW SINGLE ‘FEARS’ ON HAPPY

THE JENSENS have been making music together since 2013, a garage-pop sound inspires a Ty Segall meets Los Saicos resonance; a uniqueness that has captured interest far and wide.
Their performances across Brisbane’s bursting live music scene continue to steal the show (“…get ready to meet your new favourite band because first openers The Jensens absolutely blew the roof off. - AAA Backstage). First two singles ‘Shark Thunder‘ & ‘Sick Sad World‘ gained an instant well-earned appreciation from fans and media.

Listen to new single ‘Fears’ as premiered on Happy

Now, ‘Fears‘ is the first taste of a full length mixtape, to be released early 2015. The track is an instant toe-tapper, a guitar-heavy summer song, with heavier context.

The band’s frontman Joseph White explained,Fears was written about the feelings of fear and anxiety I had about life passing me by. This was when I felt like I was doing nothing with my life when living on the coast. The song is about how all these things can get to a person and make them feel like they’re drowning in self pity, the only solution is to ‘say goodbye’ and move on to greener pastures, I guess.”

The Jensens have shared stages with the likes of Stonefield  Lurch & Chief and Velociraptor, and this Friday they will play with The Harpoons at The Brightside in Brisbane, the official launch for ‘Fears’. Tickets just $10 pre-sale or $15 at the door, more details HERE, with interstate dates soon to be announced.

MIDNIGHT JUGGERNAUTS RELEASE NEW TRACK ‘FREEFALLING’

Midnight Juggernauts celebrate their 10 year anniversary this year with an EP release for charity, here’s the first track ‘Freefalling‘.
Recently separated across different countries and different projects, they banded back together on impulse to record a series of adventurous EPs. The first called Aerials, (out now via the band’s own label, Siberia Records) reflects the world from a vertical perspective above and below, explored in the music as well as accompanying video clip and live show production. Exuding a more electronic dancefloor spirit, the tailored shows of projections and installations are heightened audio visual experiences. An initial test flight was trialled at this years VIVID Festival at the Sydney Opera House, eventually evolving into its new incarnation for the upcoming Melbourne Music Week

Motivated to eschew the traditional album release structure in favour of something more meaningful, they make the Aerials EP available immediately, in return for a donation to the  Aboriginal Benefits Foundation specifically for Healthcare. Almost 1 third of Aboriginal people are dead before the age of 45. The band’s personal interest stems from strong cultural relationships fostered between family members and various outback indigenous communities over the decades. People may choose any amount they wish to donate of which 100% goes to the foundation.

Premiered by triple j’s Home & Hosed, ‘Freefalling‘ is the first single from the EP, and it’s video is an ode to Google Earth, the band’s long-standing favourite computer program. As cartographic enthusiasts they’ve spent vast amounts of hours excessively exploring its virtual environments. Last year its crowd sourced 3D modelling project, which allowed the public to recreate the world’s buildings in 3D form, had come to a close. Millions of these CG SketchUp models are now being replaced by auto-generated 3D mesh buildings through photogrammetry technologies.

‘Aerials’ is the new EP from Midnight Juggernauts, available to purchase now from midnightjuggernauts.bandcamp.com with all sales going direct to ABF

Midnight Juggernauts perform a special 10th anniversary show for
Melbourne Music Week on Saturday 22nd November at Queen Victoria Markets.
