ORPHANS ORPHANS RELEASE DEBUT SINGLE ‘ORPHAN’

ORPHANS ORPHANS began as a home for “orphaned songs”. The Brisbane based musicians and writers came together to create a brand new band as a home for the songs that don’t quite fit the mould of their other musical projects.

The lineup is Sam Hales (The Jungle Giants), Lewis Stephenson (The Belligerents), Spencer White (Morning Harvey), Aidan Moore (Moses Gunn Collective) and Steve Kempnich (Audio Engineer/musician & former touring member of Last Dinosaurs and Millions).

Self produced in bedrooms, hallways, garages and the occasional studio, mixed by Magoo and mastered by Leon Zervos, ‘Orphan’ is the first single from their forthcoming debut EP, which is due on Amplifire in September 2014.

Listen to ‘Orphan’

Channeling elements of psych and rock, the debut offering from Orphans Orphans has been best described by this “hot off the press” quote by speakertv.com, ”It’s a thumping rock banger.”Best you just listen, and turn it up loud.

ALLDAY ANNOUNCES DEBUT ALBUM ‘STARTUP CULT’

Allday will release his debut album Startup Cult on July 4 via ONETWO. After a string of successful singles, EPs and free mixtapes, the Melbourne-via-Adelaide rapper has created a massive underground buzz for his debut, which is in turn one of the most anticipated Australian records of 2014.

The first single from Startup Cult is Right Now, which hit the airwaves via triple j last month just in time for appearances nationally on Groovin The Moo Festival. Today, the music video for Right Now is released to fans via YouTube just in time for the tour of the same name which starts this weekend. The tour includes mostly sold out headline dates and appearances on Bass In The Grass, Live it Up and River Sessions Festivals around the country.

It didn’t take long for the move to pay dividends. Via a strong a connection with his fanbase and a slew of home made music videos and mixtapes, the buzz behind Allday grew exponentially. Before long, he was that kid whose personality and sarcastic sense of humour had tens of thousands of fans interacting on his outrageously strong social networks, or creating footage of themselves to contribute to his videos. His shows began to pack out and his music started getting national exposure via triple j (including a spot in the Hottest 100) and festivals. And all before an official album release.

For its release, fans will have a bunch of different options to pre-order the album, including a lock of  Allday’s  hair in a vial, and Merch and CD bundles amongst other things. Pre-Orders for Startup Cult will be live on May 30 via 24 Hundred, JB Hifi and iTunes.

Startup Cult will be out on July 4. The release will be the second on the newly formed ONETWO label, which you can read more about HERE.

FOX & FOWL ON ‘JUNGLE PUNCH’ TOUR

Canberra-come-Brisbane based Fox & Fowl have released their debut EP to cheerful reviews. As they hit the road for an East Coast tour, the band present the EP’s second single, Jungle PunchJungle Punch kick-starts the  self-tilted EP, an upbeat and undeniably catchy summer jam.

Fox & Fowl will take their show on the road Sydney’s Mum at World Bar on Friday 23 May with Deepspace Supergroop and Miners.

Due to reasons beyond the band’s control, a venue change has taken place in Melbourne moving from Black Night Crash to The Toff In Town. Fox & Fowl will play at the Toff with Young Mavericks on Saturday 24 May.

Recorded at Airlock Studios in Brisbane by Yanto Browning (Art of Sleeping, The Medics, The Jungle Giants), the debut release encapsulates the journey had by the band while studying in Canberra, traveling the Americas, then relocating to the Sunshine State. ISAAC DE HEER RELEASES NEW ALBUM ‘SUMMER’ AND VIDEO FOR ‘SPACESHIPS’

The new album from Isaac de HeerSummer is released today, and the video for the album’s first single ‘Spaceships’ has been premiered by Tone Deaf.

Summer was crafted with the help of UK producer and friend Roger Mars and with local input from Melbourne producer Tony Dupe (Holly Throsby, Jack Ladder and Grand Salvo), It is more diverse, unhinged and exciting than anything previous, proceeding from the Streets EP.

From dreamy songs about the end of the world, hip hop inspired ramblings about spaceships, charango laments, piano ballads about time’s residue, to music written for his late grandfathers poem Summer; songwriter Isaac de Heer has been on a creative joyride. He makes warm and expansive folk numbers from influences ranging from lyrical prose, dreamy soundscapes, Michael Leunig, to the laneways and city scum of Melbourne.
